Safe Opening in Cancun | Hotel, Home and Office Safes

Safe opening in Cancun: in-wall safe with a digital keypad

Safes fail in three boring ways and one expensive one. The battery dies and the keypad goes dark. The code is right but the handle no longer turns. Somebody changed the combination and did not write it down. Those are the boring ones, and none of them requires destroying the safe.

The expensive one is the safe that has been attacked — drilled, levered, or hit — and no longer behaves. Those sometimes have to be opened destructively, and when that is the case we say so before starting rather than after.

A word about hotel and vacation-rental room safes, because it is the most common call in this category. If you are in a hotel, call the front desk first. Every property has an override for its own in-room safes and they will open it for free. Where we come in is the vacation rental with a safe the host inherited from a previous owner, the office safe whose combination left with an employee, and the home safe that has been sitting in a wardrobe since 2011.

Why call us for a safe

Non-destructive first, always

Most electronic safes open through the battery compartment, the override key or the manufacturer's reset, none of which harms the safe. Drilling is a last resort and it changes the price, which is why we quote both possibilities up front instead of one.

We say when it is free elsewhere

If you are in a hotel and the safe is the hotel's, the front desk opens it at no cost. We will tell you that on the phone. Charging someone for a job their hotel does for free is not a business, it is a scam with an invoice.

Proof of ownership, without exception

A safe is the one thing where nobody gets a benefit of the doubt. We need documentation that it is yours, or written authorisation from whoever runs the property. This is not negotiable and it is the reason you would want to hire us rather than the alternative.

It works afterwards

Where the opening is non-destructive we reset the combination with you and change the battery, so you leave with a working safe rather than an open box.

How we work

  1. Step 1 · Photograph the safe

Brand, model and the keypad. Send it on WhatsApp — half of these are solved by identifying the model and finding the override.

  2. Step 2 · Try the obvious first

We will walk you through the battery change and the manufacturer's reset on the phone. It costs you nothing and it works often enough to be worth five minutes.

  3. Step 3 · Two prices, quoted up front

One if it opens non-destructively, one if it has to be drilled. You know both before anyone leaves.

  4. Step 4 · Ownership is verified

Documents, or authorisation from the property manager. No exceptions on safes.

  5. Step 5 · Open, reset, test

New battery, new combination set with you, and the door tested closed and open again before payment.

Frequently asked questions about safe opening

The hotel room safe won't open. Should I call you?

Call the front desk first. The hotel has an override for its own safes and will open it free. Call us for safes in vacation rentals, homes and offices.

Will you have to drill it?

Usually not. Most electronic safes open through the battery compartment, an override key or a factory reset. Drilling is the last resort and you get that price before we start, not after.

I forgot the combination. Is the contents safe?

Yes. A non-destructive opening does not disturb the contents, and even a drilled opening targets the lock, not the compartment.

What do you need to prove it's mine?

The purchase invoice, a document showing the safe belongs to the property you own or rent, or written authorisation from the building or business owner. On safes there are no exceptions.

Can you open it if the keypad is dead?

Usually that is the easiest case of all — a flat battery. Many models take an external battery at the keypad, and we will talk you through it on the phone before charging you for a visit.

Can I keep using it afterwards?

After a non-destructive opening, yes: new battery, new code, done. After a drilled opening it needs a lock repair, and we tell you what that costs at the same time as the opening.

We call back in under 5 minutes.
